This year, the event celebrated The Costume Instituteโs spring exhibition, โSuperfine: Tailoring Black Styleโ โ an exploration of Black dandyism from its emergence in 18th-century England to its contemporary incarnations.

For this yearโs Met Gala, we partnered with the highly regarded image architect Law Roach. Using his expansive knowledge of style and culture, Roach ensured this yearโs theme was prominently woven into the fabric of Burberryโs creative expression. โThere were so many aspects, emotions and memories that came up when I heard the theme. Thatโs what informs my choices, instead of just references. Itโs me figuring out how to bring it into the DNA and the brand.โ
